Ditson style ukulele - our favourite...

After 7 years of building and trying to get that tight bend in the waste in difficult woods, I discovered the Ditson style and hey - no more superglue!

The one in the view to the right is a comissioned piece made from English Yew. Many early English guitars were made from this wood which has an irridescent glow to it. What makes it remarkable is that is is botanically a 'softwood' and therefore has the perfect cellular structure for producing sonic beauty and clarity.

This particular instrument is blinged-out on the front and, unusually, has no face dots on the fretboard. If you are considering comissioning a ukulele this is a great wheeze and a deterent to other people playing your uke. It doesn't take any time to get used to the fact that there are no face position markers and what's more, when you play out, no one will want to touch your precious instrument!

Baseline starting price for these is £495 or $990. As usual you will get mastergrade wood and the usual satin cellulose lacquer finish.

I also specialise in supplying this style in the form of a kit, which is another way of getting a UK UKES ukulele at a good price. Have a look at what you get here.
