Finish

For most small manufacturers the finish of choice is still nitro-cellulose lacquer. 

I prepare the wood down to 400 grit ready for spraying the 10 - 12 coats of Behelen's Instrument lacquer necessary for that classic nitro look. This is done over 5 days with the finish left to harden for a furter 10. I then hand polish the instrument creating a satin finish for the back and a super-high gloss hand rubbed finish for the front.
